The heart is never brave, no matter how you steel yourself . . . The heart is never brave; courage is a matter for the soul instead. The heart is forever greedy and always wants more of dangerous, wicked love. Hearts can readily be hurt, and such pain has taught them cowardice. The face can be brave, a reflection of the soul or the will; but hearts can always be wounded, always, and if they once lose their vulnerable ways, they shortly cease to be hearts. |
