1 Poem: Dan Sicoli

    baby in shorts

    he got the nova
    the blue nova
    seems like he's been
fucking with it since new years day

    jacked-up at the curb
    tools spilled out like toys
and his bloated hands aren't even greasy

    sits on porch steps
    shirtless
a huge hairy baby diapered in
    orange swimming trunks
belching between each gulp of beer

he steps up and revs the engine louder
    than the time before
    goes nowhere
just stirs street dust in park
    his little tantrum

    it continues for weeks
    at all hours
    why should he respect us
    working stiffs

    fools who labor through shifts
    to hold down these
    hot damp rooms for sleep

    yes it goes on
    at least until
    i can figure a way
    to blow out his house
    without taking mine
    along with it

sort of a grassroots nuclear dilemma
    i suppose
