3 Poems: Cheryl Townsend

    THEY SAY

    the best
    birth control
    for people over 50
    is nudity
    and I am finding
    it works at 40
    too

    MY LIBIDO HAS A.D.D.

    and leaves me
    everywhere but
    where I should be
    It's not just
    grocery lists
    but monthlong
    schedules and
    deadlines and
    as he is looking
    for that sign of
    my surrender I
    am adding
    another date
    in my datebook
    and wondering
    how I'll find
    the time

    DIGGING HIS FINGERS

    into my rage red hair
    he pulled the scent
    of patchouli in
    and inhaled as if
    an elixir that had
    just given him
    an impetus to
    go on

Cheryl A Townsend is the somewhat sporatic publisher of Impetus and owner of the mostly sporatic cat's Impetuous Books in Kent, Ohio. She spends as much time as she can behind her Canon AE-1...and is looking forward to more.
