Ahhh, Melancholy Me

I like watching tattooed teenagers

act like they're supposed to on MTV   LSD   EXTACY

No mind altering effects or permanent damage on me

but residue in my spine

gets turned on by this

flowering,

grand millennium debauchery.

I pray for the end, the end!

the end

of all insignificant human race

The end of Yuppies

Hippies

Right wing

Left wing

Politicians

Sinners

Saints

Ahhh, Melancholy Me

I like to watch workers dig holes

in cemeteries.

Starts me thinking about insurance company

length of life tests.

Should be dead by 63;

leaving me 36 more years of tending

the garden of seclusion.

Ahhh, Melancholy Me

What am I saying?

Of course I want sunshine and rainbows.

Of course, the glorious days of pitter patter feet on

sticky Kool-Aid floors.

Of course I seek adulation.

But these things grind

my inherited point of view.

My snarling teeth sharpened by

an Irish Veteran of the Great Depression.

Mom,

hurry up and die,

I await my turn

as to not hurt you anymore
