FOR CAIT COLLINS
"Do not go
quietly" the
Poet said
Inspiration
comes naturally
Expiration
takes effort
And you did
both with class
The night
rolls back its wings
Bearing its
teeth cold as naked bone
The flesh now
gone
But the spirit
lives on
And wherever
you are
You survived
the pain
Refused to
surrender
Did not go
quietly
Will not be
forgotten by those
You touched
and who mourn your loss
But your
spirit rides free
In the clouds
in the gentle breeze
In the skirts
of a raging storm
A butterfly
spreading its wings
Cosmic matter
waiting to be reborn
