Poetry
John M. Bennett

XLII

Keep dragging log across the deep
lake snore boat drinks the slate
pocket grave clinking like martini rocks
crumble in yr shoe soupy grumble
moan crazy lichen moon blazing phone
itch containers toward bank's rusty ditch

could you rephrase the splintered wood
would phase relief the walls' "should"
clustered pop machines the night's luster
reflects off asphalt infused yr dialect
game sardine flips in coffee same
as toilets seething through dark gas

sleep the rag fog damp heap
truly slithers like a faucet drooling
bookcase cousin grinning grip your hook
through pages like an eye glued
open brush with breath your groping
steak closet rustles in the flaking

stool yr nap face in pool
cleavage tissue bright with red leaves
behind the greenbeans heaps of rind
gaseous gleaming in the dark nauseous
lavage splashing street a dim mirage
page a mirror back, flaking cage

XLIII

Core contusion or your eel floor
swirly apestosa listed lovely fragrant girl
huddled in yr belly like mud
steaming soup or flannel cut dream
left face or right torn cleft
sieve (or sleeve) the cat heaves

under rocker I count "a number"
of intentions gas the words above
were gnatsly whirling aloft like fur
constellations crumble horizonte heaped like consternation
trash in alley slithers toward past
away closets brain the flume grey

broom dribbles instantly connected a zoom
lens crackles with your sight bends
former saltines viscous now slow normal
clumps around the TV then slumps
was rain and isoflation often dust?
gland tremebunda with your hair's sand

crime apples of yr eye time
modify the sweetened lap or codify
upper half leaning loosely over supper
chicken rotting on your plate thickens
hold her close skin folds cold
eat the air your spinal "treat"...
