Submission Guidelines
TS Quarterly

Poetry, Prose & Reviews

Send to            Jim Chandler

I will be reading material for future issues of Thunder Sandwich on an ongoing basis. I have attempted to set guidelines that are more attuned to obtaining the best material possible rather than establishing impossible conditions, but I've been forced to make some changes because some people don't have concern for the time or workload of others. Therefore, those submitting can either follow these guidelines or expected to be summarily rejected.

Poems may be of any length, with a maximum of 10 previously unpublished on the Internet. (Prior print publication is OK, and those posted on boards are acceptable, however they should not be posted after they are submitted for possible publication or until they appear here.) It is acceptable to include poems pasted in the body of an email message. No forms are excluded, however the editor is not overly impressed by bad rhyme. There are no limitations on theme, albeit poetry with a hard edge that speaks to reality has much more of a chance making it than does pretty word pictures and fluff.

DO NOT send numerous Word documents containing one poem each. Anyone too stupid to paste all the poems into one Word document is too stupid to be published here. It is requested that a biography be submitted WITH the material, although it is not required. Henceforth, only bios submitted with the material will be accepted and no exceptions. And please--no massive lists of all the organs your work has appeared in. It's fine to name a few but nobody wants to read a list of scores of journals.

Essays or fiction should be limited to no more than three pieces per submission. Pasted in mail or plain text is fine--IF the material is blocked in paragraphs with a space between. With complexly formatted stories, I will not read them unless they arrive in Word, RTF or a comparable format. It is acceptable to submit prose of length in separate documents.

Please, don't send poems along one at a time piecemeal as it makes keeping up with them too difficult--that is, unless you intend to only submit one or two.

Written matter should come to me and graphics to Haze, at least for the time being. Please direct material to the right person and save us all a lot of hassle.

Replies usually within a day or so, seldom longer than a week. Payment is the joy of seeing your creation displayed along with those of other like-minded individuals.

And certainly, tell your creative friends to submit. I'm always open to good work from any source.

Jim Chandler

If accepted, you will be asked to send more images and a short artist's statement.

*Hints Hints Hints*

Rattle me. Make me think. Wake me up. Send your freshest stuff.
Flowery gardens, photo-realistic work, or anything overtly adorable
probably won't make it.
Expressions of sexuality and work of a sensual nature
will be considered however, it must be in good taste.
Pornographic work is completely unacceptable.

To quote the Editor-In-Chief, "Payment is the joy of seeing your creation displayed along with those of other like-minded individuals." You retain all rights to your work.
