Another One About You

you put your
shallow emotions
in a mylar balloon
and float them
from a string
over your head
you wander
your lonely landscape
and i
in all my smugness
long to cut the string
and watch you
get lost in something
other than your own
personal clouds
for a change

Fate Steps In

old jack had
a long life
by most accounts
died at 87
peacefully
at a poker game
during which
he was accused
of using chest pains
as a bluff tactic
since he won
nearly every hand
and Slim still
didn't quite believe
that the whole
damned thing
wasn't planned
somehow

Love

crumbles
like crackers

and is
just as easily
swept aside...

Solution

a man
on the bus
sitting across
from me and
my thoughts
watches a fly
try to escape
the hard space
of the window
watching
enjoying i think
the small suffering
in light of his own
maybe
maybe not he is
watching the fly
buzz in vain
and then
piece of paper
to the window
and no more
suffering
for one of us

Fat Girl Shame

she hides
her face
in her hands
but really
doesn't manage
to hide anything
at all
does she?
