Coffee Time
after 9 hours
of begging
and collecting discarded cigarettes and pennies

takes his money
to the coffee shop
and changes in almost $17 in change
he gets a 10
a 5
and a cup of coffee
he's worked a full day
and now
he rewards himself
he buys a $20 piece of crack cocaine
for the price of a 15
but if you ask me,
a 20 should be worth 10, but that's another story

goes back into the alleyway and smokes it
he will be high
for maybe 10 minutes
and then he will be right back where he started
homeless with ½ a cup of cold coffee
the possibilities are endless
tomorrow
he gets to do it all over again
