James Quinton

last gang in town

the walked it

like they talked it

cooler than Brando

hipper than De Niro

the last gang in town

after

the pistols emploded

the ramones got phil spector in

the damned lost brian james

the rest painted themselves

into a corner

but the clash rode out

assimilating influences

reggae, soul, blues, hip-hop

jazz, rap, c&w , beat poetry

their music

influencing thousands

to change their politics

to better their lives

as one guy confessed,

'i have never seen

the clash but i would sell

my grandmother to have

seen them'

the last gang in town

the last word in rock n roll

Applying Yourself

One of the most depressing

Things ever

Filling out multiple applications forms

Writing and then re-writing

The same information

Over and over

Being reminded of all the

Terrible jobs

Making me depressed

Also I realise

That it will most

Properly be all in vain

I have no enthusiasm

All I can manage is to

Repeat the same tired lies

Deep sighs

Come fast

And for a moment

I want to throw

My hands in the

Air and go to

Join the bums

On the park bench

Drinking super strength cider

And laughing about nothing

As our teeth slowly rot
