Marianne Lavalle-Vincent

HOUDINI

He used to walk on water

Until I drowned

Used to be a magician

Until I disappeared

And his clever disguises

That took place in phone booths

Left me naked and confused

Still-- I died

A little bit

When he flew away

And I thought he soared

So much higher

Than the rest

Until I finally landed

Not in his shadow

Because he really never cast

One

It was always

Just an illusion
